Purchasing Coordinator

The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services required for an organization, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition while maintaining inventory levels. They work closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure that the necessary materials are available for production or operations. The role includes order processing, supplier negotiation, inventory management, and ensuring that purchasing activities align with company budgets and timelines.

What You’ll Do:
Material Sourcing & Procurement:
- Identify and source suppliers of metals, alloys, and other materials required for fabrication.
- Negotiate pricing and contracts with vendors to ensure cost-eective purchasing.
- Order materials based on production schedules, ensuring adequate inventory levels are maintained.
Inventory Management:
- Track and monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking or shortages.
- Implement systems for timely reordering and ensure materials are available when needed.
Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Evaluate supplier performance on quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Address issues related to delayed shipments, material quality, or vendor discrepancies.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all materials purchased meet the quality standards required for fabrication processes.
- Coordinate with the quality control team to resolve any material-related issues.
Communication & Coordination:
- Collaborate with production managers, engineers, and other departments to understand material needs and specifications.
- Coordinate with internal teams to plan material delivery schedules and avoid production delays.
Record Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and deliveries.
- Prepare regular reports on material costs, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
Who You Are:
- Proven experience as a purchasing agent or in procurement, ideally in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of metals, alloys, and other materials used in fabrication.
- Proficiency with inventory management software and purchasing systems.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data, forecast material needs, and manage budgets effectively.
- Ability to maintain and control a department-wide budget.
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate the English language and follow verbal and written instruction.
